REMASOL® UFB: A cost effective, enhanced binder

REMASOL® UFB is based on Remet’s fastest drying colloidal silica technology and is developed for economic, efficient and effective use in the modern Investment Foundry.

The combination of REMASOL binder with ADBOND® UFB concentrate will provide the foundry with a binder that can, when compared with straight colloidal silica, significantly decrease the dry time necessary between dips. In addition, green strengths are increased, which has a positive impact on mould handling and dewaxing. UFB can be used in all market segments making small castings to large structural parts.

Benefits of the REMASOL UFB binder system:

  • Shorter dry times between dips
  • High green strength
  • Compatible with all standard refractories
  • Proven track record
  • REACH compliant
  • Ease of removal
  • Cost effective
  • Available in lot sizes of 5 ??? 20 tonnes
  • Discounts for FTL quantities.

Typical Properties of REMASOL UFB

  • % SiO2 24 %
  • Binder Density 1.17 g/cm3
  • pH @ 255??°C 9.9 ??? 100.5

It is important to consult with your Remet Technical Sales Manager before using REMASOL UFB.

REMASOL UFB is capable of being high shear mixed.

The slurry should be mixed for 8 ??- 12 hours under low shear conditions to allow the flour to wet in.

A check of shell weights or shell thickness should be made on the initial trials.

Remet recommends Modulus of Rupture (MOR) testing on your current shell system to characterize its properties prior to initiating any testing.
