Casting Wax

Pattern, Runner & System Wax

From our proprietary casting wax ranges below, Remet’s technologists are able to expertly blend a wax for investment casting to meet your pattern making or wax assembly requirements.

Remet supply two ranges of filled casting waxes, HYFILL® and LITEFILL®. Differentiated by the level of filler, both of these product ranges are characterised by the excellent dimensional reproducibility of the casting patterns they create. Experts in wax formulation, Remet can blend either of the HYFILL or LITEFILL ranges to suit the creation of small through to large casting patterns. Accounting for the rigours across a variety of specialist applications – Aerospace, Automotive, IGT, Medical and Commercial.

Wax blends in all of our ranges are able to constituted of purely virgin materials or include reclaim wax. Remet is able to reclaim used casting waxes to produce a high quality, near virgin material that is cost effective and in many cases performs as a virgin blend. During the synthesis we can modify the properties of reclaimed waxes to achieve a customer’s required dimensional and mechanical performance. As the investment casting industries only major supplier with ISO 14001 accreditation, REMET is an obvious choice for recycling your autoclaved wax.

Remet also supply a range of unfilled casting wax – CASTYLENE® – and a water filled wax – AQUACAST®.

All Remet materials are REACH compliant, our casting wax ranges are available in either 5kg slabs in 20kg cartoons or 25kg bags of pastilles.

  • HYFILL®

HYFILL® – Filled Investment Casting Pattern Wax

HYFILL® waxes are incredibly versatile blends of casting wax, containing 30% or greater of an inert polymeric filler content. Utilising REMET UK’s in-depth knowledge, these waxes can be tailored to a customer’s individual purpose, across a wide range of applications. Designed specifically for technically demanding components these casting waxes are characterised by their:

    • Excellent dimensional pattern reproducibility
    • Producing parts with greater stability
    • Reduced contraction rates
    • High quality surface finish
    • Low melt viscosity, giving good flow properties

HYFILL® blends have been used to make patterns for the following castings:

    • Medium and large thin walled patterns typical of aluminium and titanium castings
    • Small through to large sized patterns for IGT, Aerospace and Commercial Markets

REMET are able to customise blends to meet a broad range of mechanical and injection requirements. HYFILL® waxes can be formulated to enable their use on either a liquid, paste or extrusion injection machinery.

  • LITEFILL®

LITEFILL – Investment Casting Pattern Wax for the Automated Production Line

The LITEFILL® casting wax range is designed for use in the production of small to medium sized patterns and uses less than 30% polymeric filler content. The materials have good tensile properties, making them suitable for use on high speed automated extrusion injection machinery, in addition to traditional liquid and paste injection machines.

LITEFILL waxes have been used successfully in the automotive industry, for the production of turbo wheels, on automatic machines. These casting waxes can be characterised by their:

    • Fast setting nature
    • High productivity
    • High dimensional stability
    • Good flow
    • Good surface finish

All materials are designed with reclamation in mind to give our customers a cost effective way of utilising system waxes. All of our reclaim waxes are reconstituted to near virgin standard.

  • CASTYLENE®

Unfilled Investment Casting Pattern & Runner Wax

Remet’s CASTYLENE® range are blends of pattern and runner/sprue waxes that are unfilled. These waxes have both low melting and congealing points making them suitable for liquid, paste injection and extrusion methods.

The low viscosity of CASTYLENE waxes aids the blends in filling even the most complex dies, producing sharply defined patterns. This characteristic makes this range of waxes ideal for application in the casting of decorative pieces, where detail is critical.

CASTYLENE waxes are tough and flexible to resist breakage and chipping during handling and efficient dewaxing. Its good mechanical properties allow CASTYLENE waxes to perform excellently as a runner/sprue wax, avoiding damage of the wax patterns.

  • FF>>Form®

Improve Productivity with Shorter Dwell Times

FastForm® is an ultra low-filled wax that acts as a filled wax. It can be injected as a liquid, but excels as paste wax due to its short cycle times. Produces patterns with the hardness and toughness required for the production of precision investment parts with superb surface finish. Features and benefits of this unique wax are as follows:

    • Shorter dwell times increase productivity
    • Ultra-low filled pattern wax
      • Less shell cracking
      • Increases reclaim yield
    • Excellent dimensional stability
    • Fine surface finish
    • Less cavitation, sink and shrink
      • Low injection temperature

  • AQUACAST®

    Water Filled Investment Casting Wax

AQUACAST® is Remet’s range of water filled (emulsified) pattern waxes, which is intended for use in the production of small to medium sized patterns.

The water filling gives this range of products a number of benefits for the investment casting foundryman AQUACAST waxes provide:

    • Excellent surface finish with a glassy smooth appearance
    • Low viscosity
    • Good dimensional stability
    • Reduced surface defects such as sinkage and cavitation, due to its specific heat capacity and density properties

In addition to this all casting waxes in the AQUACAST range flow well, making these waxes suitable for complex die geometrics. This is complemented by the behaviour of the water filling in this material, when in the die, as it allows the wax to release from the die easier. The wax pattern formed from AQUACAST waxes still maintains excellent dimensional stability.
