Incident at Turner Street Production Facility

Date posted: 11th March 2019

On this past Friday morning, March 8th, 2019, a fire broke out at our Turner Street production facility in Utica, NY. The fire was contained to a rear corner area in one of the buildings at the site. Fire crews were dispatched and quickly on the scene to successfully extinguish the fire. The building was also quickly evacuated in accordance with our emergency procedures and we are pleased to say that there were no injuries.

REMET® is assessing the extent of the damages at Turner Street caused during the incident and will re-start production as soon as power can be safely restored to all areas of the site. We are re-confirming our stock availability around our many sites and I am happy to report that stock levels held at Turner Street remain intact.

However, to minimize any potential impact to our customer’s supply chain, we will be enacting our contingency plans to relocate any affected product lines to our REMET qualified production facilities.  We will contact customers directly should their supply line be affected in any way.

We are investigating the cause of the incident with local experts and will implement their recommendations. We will be reviewing our procedures at all of our facilities to prevent any repeat of this type of incident.

We thank you in advance for your understanding and support regarding this incident.
