Wetting Agents & Antifoams for Investment Casting Slurry

Remet supplies wetting agents and antifoams as additions for an investment casting slurry. These products are for use in conjunction with Remet binder and refractory products.

Please note that some of Remet’s binders are mono component systems that already contain an optimised level of slurry additives.   • 2-Ethylhexanol

    2-Ethylhexanol is used as antifoam for colloidal silica based primary slurries. Under normal conditions, use 2-ethylhexanol at a level of 0.25 ƒ€“ 0.50% based on total liquid in the slurry. Do not use in conjunction with LUDOX SK slurries.

  • Remet Foamaway

    Remet Foamaway is a silicone antifoam that offers the investment caster:

    • Immediate defoaming action
    • Longer-term foam prevention
    • Good stability

    Remet Foamaway is formulated to provide strong defoaming and antifoaming action in alkaline systems. This makes it uniquely suited for use in alkaline colloidal silica slurries.

  • Burst 100 Antifoam

    The expanded use of latex binder systems, higher levels of wetting agents, and faster turnaround times have brought more attention to the use of antifoams to alleviate and control slurry foaming tendencies. Burst 100 gives rapid breakdown of foam and release of air bubbles.

    Burst 100 Antifoam provides outstanding performance under many different conditions. It is compatible with a wide variety of wetting agents, and can tolerate both alkaline and acidic binder systems.

  • Victawet 12

    Victawet 12 is a non-ionic, low-foaming, organic phosphate ester, wetting agent that is effective in both acidic and alkaline binders used in the investment casting process.

    This product provides good wetting of waxes, fast wetting-in of slurry refractories and does not degrade slurry life. It also has good dispersing and emulsifying properties and is stable in both acidic and basic pHs.

    VICTAWET 12, like other wetting agents, should be used in conjunction with effective antifoam such as BURST® 100 or REMET® Foamaway. Please see one of REMET’S® Technical Sales Managers for specific recommendations

  • Remet Wet-In

    Remet WET-IN provides good wetting of waxes, fast wetting-in of slurry refractories and does not degrade slurry life. Wet-in has good dispersing and emulsifying properties, is stable in both acidic and basic pHƒ€™s and will not decompose at temperatures up to 150ƒ‚°C (300ƒ‚°F).

  • Aerosol OT-75

    AEROSOL OT-75 is an anionic surfactant that provides excellent wetting characteristics at low levels of addition. AEROSOL OT-75 may have a higher foaming tendency, than many other wetting agents, particularly under high shear mixing conditions.

    AEROSOL OT-75 is compatible with all standard REMASOLƒ‚® grades as well as with the LUDOX SK family of products.

  • Remet Dryness Indicator

    Remet Dryness Indicator is a fluorescent dye that can be added to water based slurries to provide the user with a visual indication that the previous shell coat is sufficiently dried.

  • Remet CA68 Cobalt Aluminate

    CA68 Cobalt Aluminate is a high purity material with a cobalt content of 32.5% to 36.0%. These cobalt levels make this product an ideal choice for investment casting, in applications where grain control of the metal surface is necessary.
