Remet Augment Environmental Commitment!

Date posted: 29th November 2013

Remet has been awarded the silver level of the low carbon Kent steps to Environmental Management Scheme (STEM).

This scheme, jointly funded by Kent County Council and the European Union, has been set up for businesses seeking to tackle and adapt to climate change. The Low Carbon Kent network of businesses, promote opportunities of the low carbon market and contribute circa £1 billion to the Kent economy.

By achieving the Silver Award, Remet has been identified by the low carbon advisers to have developed its Environmental Management System (EMS), to the point where our carbon footprint is both measured and monitored. Further to this, it has been identified we are actively seeking to reduce this footprint.

The project was managed internally by Remet’s Alex Spence, our own BSI accredited environmental expert. In achieving this award he has further built on last year’s ISO 14001 accreditation, continuing to demonstrate Remet’s commitment to our natural environment.

Remet took the organisational decision back in early 2011, to make a firm public commitment to reducing our environmental impact. We felt this was an intrinsic element to our lean manufacturing philosophy, ensuring we are running as efficiently as possible with minimal waste and streamlined operations.

As the first major supplier to the precision investment casting industry to make such a public and strong commitment, we are proud to continue to develop this undertaking and reduce our carbon footprint.
