Meet the Team
Philipa is a qualified FCCA, graduated her MBA in 2010 and subsequently became a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. She joined Remet in 2004 and has held the position of Director of Finance and Operations, responsible for Finance, Supply Chain and Operations. In her new role as Chief Operating Officer, she will lead, support and drive the strategic growth of business.
Andrew is an experienced Chartered Management Accountant with a strong background in manufacturing and operations.
After starting his career in the public sector, Andrew has held a number of positions in market-leading international manufacturing businesses with a strong emphasis on performance management and reporting, financial control and systems implementation. Andrew has also worked as a self-employed consultant focusing on business improvement projects.
More recently Andrew has held senior finance positions in the fresh produce industry with operational responsibility for health and safety, stock management and key product supply.
Bob’s first degree in Materials Technology was read at Lanchester Polytechnic. He has 24 years experience of working within foundries in the Investment Casting Industry. He has held positions as Metallurgist, quality manager, process, and capability owner, before joining Remet UK over 10 years ago. Bob has a second degree in English Literature and post-graduate qualifications in Management gained at The Open University.
Gavin studied Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and a PhD from the University of Birmingham, UK. Gavin’s PhD was entitled “Shell Improvements for the Investment Casting of Orthopaedic Implants”. He has gained over 5 years investment casting experience as a process and materials engineer within a medical device foundry before joining Remet in 2016. He is currently studying for a Masters in Management with the Open University.
Shaun Smith is appointed to the role of Deputy Director of Sales and Marketing and will be assisting Bob Brown in developing new sales targets; providing coaching and mentoring within the sales team; and will be using his experience of manufacturing within the Peoples Republic of China to provide steering within our Chinese Development Programme.
Shaun has 25 years of foundry operational experience holding positions as General Manager, Sales Manager, Project Manager and Process Engineer and has worked in the UK and China. He has experience of working in Precision Investment Casting in aerospace, orthopaedic and automotive environments and vacuum alloy manufacture.
Shaun plans to continue his MBA studies with the Open University, following initial studies at Sheffield University.
Nigel studied Chemistry at Birmingham Polytechnic. He joined Remet UK over 10 years ago and has over 20 years experience in the Investment Casting Industry, previously working with Dupont’s range of colloidal silicas. Nigel’s industry experience and product knowledge enables him to fully utilise the benefits of Remets casting materials.
Sergey holds a postgraduate degree in Polymers and Material Science from Mendeleevs University of Chemical Technology (Russia); prior to this he had studied Organic Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Before joining Remet, he has gained more than 10 years of industry experience in both Russia and the UK holding role as a production engineer and technical consultant. Sergey speaks Russian, English and German.
Nico Studied Business Management at the Professional School of Technology and Economics in Lutherstadt Eisleben, Germany. He joined Remet in 2015 having been the Product Manager for Special Waxes at Romonta for 9 years. Nico has spent over 10 years in the investment casting industry and is an expert in all aspects of waxes. He speaks German and English.
Radek studied Business Management and Marketing in Wy?sza Szko?a Biznesu – National Louis University in Nowy Sacz, Poland. He joined Remet in 2015. Radek has 15 years experience in sales B2B and marketing. He speaks Polish and English.
David has over 40 years’ experience in the investment casting industry, having worked for Rolls-Royce Motors Ltd, Howmet, PCC and Doncasters Group. His knowledge and experience of every aspect of the investment casting process ensure that he can provide any support required by a foundry.
David speaks English and French.
