  • REMASIL®

    Aluminosilicate Refractory Flour & Sand

REMASIL® is the trade name for REMET® UK’s Aluminosilicate products. Composed of three systems (REMASIL 48, 50 & 60), all calcined to a constant weight and ground to specific grade of both grains and flours. These products produce investment casting shells of excellent refractoriness and high temperature stability, at an incredibly economical rate. The REMASIL® range provides increased strength when compared to Fused Silica systems.

In the case of stucco grains, the custom grinding of REMASIL results in a more uniform product which has a narrow range of particle sizes and a minimum amount of fines (dust). Reduced fines improve both permeability and intercoat adhesion.  Whilst the powder grains can offer the user a greater level of flexibility, through its offering in two separate cuts, allowing a foundryman to choose the specific grade that best suits their needs.

    REMASIL 48 Benefits

    • Good refractoriness and high temperature stability.
    • Easy knockout.

    REMASIL50 Benefits

    • Increased hot strength.
    • Robust and resilient.
    • Easy knockout.

    REMASIL 60 Benefits

    • Higher Alumina content provides for increased refractoriness and stability at high temperatures.
    • Excellent for casting larger parts.
    • Performs exceptionally well when dimensional stability is crucial.

  • REMASOL®

REMASOL® Colloidal Silica binders are aqueous colloidal dispersions of silica particles. The silica particles in REMASOL are non-crystalline, have a high specific surface area (One gram of REMASOL colloidal silica has a surface area of between 100 and 400 square meters!), and are negatively charged particles which have been stabilized with sodium hydroxide.

REMASOL Colloidal Silica’s have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the investment caster, for use as a primary or back up coat.

REMET® supply REMASOL binders in two particle sizes:

    • 8 – 9 millimicron
    • 14 millimicron

The choice of REMASOL® grade is dependent upon the specific conditions under which it is to be used: refractory flours(s), processing conditions, alloy(s) being cast, etc. Your REMET UK Technical Sales Manager can recommend the proper grade to meet your specific requirements.

  • LUDOX®

LUDOX is a range of aqueous dispersions of silica particles. Because of their colloidal nature, particles of LUDOX have a very large specific surface area which accounts for their novel properties and wide variety of applications.

The choice of Ludox grade is dependent upon the specific conditions under which it is to be used: refractory flours(s), processing conditions, alloy(s) being cast, etc. Your REMET UK Technical Sales Manager can recommend the proper grade to meet your specific requirements.

  • REMASOL® JUS-DIP™

Remasol Jus-Dip is an innovative pre-formulated slurry which requires no constant mixing or agitation.

The binder system has been designed by Remet as a ready to use slurry, with silica refractory and polymer levels optimised for the best performance. This single system includes both wetting agent and anti-foam which ensures the slurry requires a relatively low level of technical equipment.

    Features:

    • Ready to use – Dip direct into the drum.
    • Excellent adhesion to wax.
    • Prevents common primary coat defects such as lifting, cracking and buckling.
    • Ready to use: Silica and Polymer levels have been optimized to provide maximum adhesion, strength, and elasticity. Wetting agent and anti-foam have been added.
    • Can be used as a prime or backup material.
    • Stable pH.
    • Excellent slurry life.
    • Includes REMET® Sci-Dry™ dryness indicator to help ensure shells are ready for re-dipping.
    • User-friendly.
    • Works perfectly under less than ideal drying, environmental and processing conditions.

  • LUDOX® HSA

This is a colloidal Silica is an amorphous synthetic silica appearing as an opalescent liquid free of foreign and gelatinous matter.

LUDOX® HSA Colloidal Silica is used in applications in which sodium or alkali components are not desired, such as coatings, catalysts or in combinations with polar organic solvents. Its formulation is such that it makes LUDOX HSA Colloidal Silica to be one of the most stable deionized colloidal silica on the market.

    Key features are:

    • High surface area
    • Excellent stability

Your REMET® UK technical sales manager can recommend the proper grade to meet your specific requirements.

  • LUDOX® SK

LUDOX® SK binders are a family of proprietary formulations based on LUDOX brand Colloidal Silicas and a soluble polymer. These binders have been specially processed so that they have the unique ability to be stable in the pH range of 4-7.

LUDOX SK Series offers the following advantages:

    • pH control unnecessary
    • Very good stability with zircon flour
    • Very low sodium
    • Water based binder, no VOC problems
    • Polymer enhanced properties for reduced buckling and other primary slurry defects
    • Good green strength

Although REMET® recommend LUDOX SK as a primary coat binder, it is also suitable for use as a secondary binder. For more information your REMET UK technical sales manager can recommend the proper grade to meet your specific requirements.

  • Wacker Silester XAR

    Wacker Silester XAR

Wacker Silester XAR is ready-to-use, prehydrolysed ethyl silicate hybrid binder. The solvent in Wacker Silester XAR is a mixture of ethanol and 2-propanol.

Its degree of hydrolysis and pH has been optimised so as to provide the necessary reactivity and adequate storage stability.

A change in pH, e.g. arising from addition fillers, pigments, various additives or solvents evaporation, promotes condensation of the ethyl silicate and the system will cure more quickly.

Due to their special formulation and the technology used in their manufacture, hybrid binders have very good storage stability and processing properties.

Wacker Silester XAR is primarily used to make:

    • Ceramic casting molds, e.g. by the lost wax (investment casting) method
    • Refractory products
    • 2-pack anticorrosion zinc-rich paints, especially shop primers
